Вот и очередная порция американского широкоупотребляемого сленга на сегодня:

Ditch – оставить кого-либо, «бросить»
Пример:
This milk has gone bad, you should ditch it!
Перевод:
Молоко пропало, выбрось его!

Или:

Пример:
Your boyfriend is not a very nice guy, you should ditch him!
Перевод:
Твой бойфренд – не очень хороший парень, брось его!

Get it - понимать, проникаться, чувствовать
Пример:
It was a joke, didn’t you get it?
Перевод:
Это была шутка, неужели ты не понял?

Get with it – 1. поспешить, 2. ознакомится с чем-либо.
Пример:
You need to get with it, if you don’t want to be late!
Перевод:
Тебе нужно поторопиться, если ты не хочешь опоздать!

Или:

Пример:
You need to get with it, if you want to work in that field!
Перевод:
Тебе нужно ознакомится с этим, если ты хочешь работать в этой области!

Go off (about something ) – взорваться, разозлиться, ругаться (из-за чего-либо)
Пример:
She is going off because I am late.
Перевод:
Она злится, потому что я опоздал.

Glitch – дефект, ошибка

All data was lost because of the computer glitch last night.

Пример:
All data was lost because of a computer glitch last night.
Перевод:
Из-за компьютерной ошибки вчера вчером, все данные были потеряны.

Maxed out – обессильный, уставший
Пример:
I am maxed out at my work, I need a vacation!
Перевод:
Я так устала от своей работы, мне нужен отпуск!

On the rocks – со льдом
Пример:
- What would you like to drink?
- I’ll have margarita on the rocks.

Перевод:
- Что вы будете из напиктов?
- Я буду маргариту со льдом.

Party animal – тот, кто любит вечеринки

You should invite Kate, she is a party enimal!

Пример:
You should invite Kate, she is a party animal.
Перевод:
Тебе нужно пригласить Кейт, она обожает вечеринки!

Psycho – умственно больной, сумасшедший, «больной на голову»
Пример:
Sheila doesn’t interact with her next door neighbor any more. He is a psycho.
Перевод:
Шила больше не разговаривает с соседом, так как он сумасшедший.

Screw up – make a mistake
Пример:
I had a chance to start all over again, but I screwed it up.
Перевод:
У меня был шанс начать всё с начала, но я сделал ошибку.

Vibes – от слова «vibration» – вибрация, флюиды, атмосфера, созданная вокруг кого-либо, аура.
Пример:
I like our teacher, she gives out good vibes
Перевод:
Мне нравится наша учительница, от неё исходит положительная энергетика.

Wheels – машина
Пример:
Can I borrow your wheels? I want to impress my date*.
Перевод:
Можно одолжить твою машину? Я хочу произвести впечатление на девушку с которой у меня свидание.

* Слово date в данном случае означает того, с кем свидание, то есть это может быть или парень или девушка.

Мини-Упражнение

Сейчас очень популярна певица Тэйлор Свифт, и мне нравится её новая песенка «You Belong with Me». Сегодня мне хотелось бы поделиться с вами текстом этой песни. И пока вы читаете слова, найдите два сленговых выражения, которые употребляются в начале песни:
